Num June Paik Museum, Zuid Korea
competition 2003
This 5,000m2 museum complex for the artist Nam June Paik intends to become a center for continuous innovation and inspiration in the spirit of Paik’s work, which is characterized by the terms ecstasy and contemplation. The museum is designed to offer multiple perspectives on his work by juxtaposing the work of different artists and by highlighting specific aspects of Nam June Paik by temporary exhibitions.

Like the complex relation between art, technology and nature in Paik’s work, the building reflects on and relates to the surrounding landscape. Sometimes hiding, sometimes highlighting its environment. The skin of the building is made from glass and chrome, reflecting and distorting the image of the park.
