reprogram green - De Parade, Martin Luther Kingpark

Each year the Martin Luther King Park is turned into a bustling city center for twee weeks, thanks to the theatre festival ‘De Parade’. It brings diverse life to this otherwise desolated mono-functional green strip. Because of the lightness of the added structures the festival leaves no footprints in the park. This spotlessness makes it widely acceptable to turn an otherwise ‘sacred’ green structure into a dense piece of city. The same strategy could be applied to even ‘holier’ green zones like Waterland and the areas along the Amstel river.
